The Goal I Am Focused Most On
Passing my The Futures Desk evaluation!
Highlights / Wins To Celebrate
- Mild progress in my The Futures Desk evaluation. +$863.65 in weekly profit.
- Picking up journaling my trades more thoroughly. Looking for more data!
- I’ve started to tag my trades in the TFD journal to give me more insights into my trading behaviors. I really want to zero in on a few things that either I can push more of. I want to locate the trading behaviors to eliminate, and being able to see the data on it is helpful.
- I seem to do better taking smaller wins and stacking them. Maybe I was born to be a scalper? There would be serious rewiring of my brain that would need to happen if I focused more on scalping.
- I really like that I can list setups and apply them to individual trades. It is also done live in real time. I am able to tag/ categorize the trade as soon as I enter into a position.
- I can track performance of each set up and hopefully make some assertions after a large enough sample. The Futures Desk journal platform is really great!
Lowlights / Things To Work On
- Increased variance in daily profit. Having such a wide variance in profit is less than ideal for me. It seems very inconsistent.
- My daily profit or loss ranged from a single day loss of $2,415 to a single day profit of $1,422.
- On average my weekly profit comes out to $172.73 per day, which makes all of the effort feel less worth it.
- There are days where I was able to push it and make a substantial amount. However, this also comes with riskier behavior on my end. It also allowed me to take another full daily loss limit ($2,400). I don’t like it!
- Rough day on Monday and Wednesday
- On Monday, my first two trades put me in profit by $244.40 in realized profit. My third trade wiped out all of that and then more! I ended the day after the third trade at a $837.05 loss. Should I have stopped at $244.40? In hindsight, of course I wish I did. Would I be happy with a $244 day in the future and ending the day? I’m still figuring that one out.
- On Wednesday, I did something similar. I was up by $441.45 in realized profit. My last trade was a horrible one and took me all the way to ending the day at a $2,415 loss. I could have just ended the day at $441.45 in profit (hindsight).
- The above just illustrates that I still haven’t figured out how much I should be happy with per day. Of course this depends on my account size and my position size, but I’m still thinking about how I should approach this.
Top Lesson
Know when to stop trading. I’ve had two days start off in profits but end in pretty steep losses. I’ve also had a day where I do great in the evaluation at The Futures Desk but continued trading in my personal account only to take a bad loss.
Some days it is nice to end the day early and move on to other things. I’ve said it multiple times to accountability partners or in trading Discords, but now I need to do better to practice what I preach.
Trading Week Grade
I give my week a C. I let some bad habits pop in again this week with the over trading and being over committed to a losing trade. I’m hoping next week I can be really focused with my trading and allow myself to make better decisions.
